Homemade snow

This morning I made this snow recipe. It smelled amazing (I used a coconut scented conditioner), but I'll be honest and say we won't be doing it again.

Our daycare friend kept trying to eat it, and my kids made such a mess that it took longer to clean up than they spent playing with it. 

Paper plate snowmen

Our tiny bit of snow has mostly melted, but snowman week continues. This morning we made paper plate snowmen.

Sutton wasn't in the mood to craft today. I had to help her finish her snowman. Our little daycare friend got most of hers done on her own and of course, Lucian had his done before I had the hats cut out. 

Snowball toss?

Instead of a craft project we did a "snowball" toss today. Except, I couldn't find the white bean bags that go with this, so we borrowed the blue ones out of our Frozen Toss Across.

This is a good energy burning activity and the kids all seem a bit cranky today so a structured sit down project wasn't going to work. 

We don't watch much tv during daycare hours, but we did watch Frosty the Snowman and practiced trying to sing the song. This afternoon we will continue working through our huge pile of snowman books during reading time. 

Marshmallow snowmen

The kids did a fun craft with marshmallows this morning. We made these cute marshmallow snowmen.

I used a marker to draw the faces, and then made the glue circles. If the kids found a spot they felt needed more glue they added that themselves.

After they were done Sutton did actually eat a few, and the daycare toddler licked hers a bit. This was a fun and easy craft. The kids are hoping for real snow to make a snowman. Me? Not so much. :)

Egg carton snowmen

We did a quick craft project this morning for snowman week. Since we had a four day break, I had an easy egg carton snowman craft planned for today.

The tiny Pom-poms for the eyes, nose and buttons were a little too difficult for their little fingers to manipulate so we skipped the buttons on these. If I were to ever do this craft again I would look for bigger cotton balls to better fill in the space.

While we were sleeping our elf was busy last night.

The kids needed a little help finding Christopher this morning. I think they didn't realize he could hide in the bathroom. He made a toilet paper snowman! The kids thought it was pretty funny, and are already discussing where he might be tomorrow.
